Listen to the Tahoe Project podcast of the interview with Claire Fortier of the South Lake Tahoe City Council about Nevada Senate Bill (SB) 271. Claire is of the opinion that SB 271 “is in the spirit of a more-representative construction of the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency Governing Board. SB 271 is Nevada requesting, and pushing for, an open conversation with California about what the TRPA should be and what the representation on the Governing Board should be. I think SB 271opens everyone’s eyes to the need for a new conversation. If we cannot change what we have in terms of urban infrastructure then we cannot address the water quality problem. If we do the same thing we did in the 1980s the end result will be the destruction of the very thing we are trying to preserve.”
