Interview with Leona Allen (1) Leona Allen is a lifelong Tahoe resident, a Lake Valley Fire Protection District firefighter and a founder of the Lake Tahoe Basin Fire Academy. In this interview she shares insight into wildfire preparedness, her family's experience of loss in the Angora fire and the success of the Fire Academy where she is among the program faculty at Lake Tahoe Community College.

Governors Jerry Brown, Brian Sandoval at 2012 Lake Tahoe Summit
The annual Lake Tahoe Summit is free and open to the public. It will take place in the parking area adjacent to Edgewood Lodge on Monday, August 13, starting at 10:00 a.m. Governors Jerry Brown and Brian Sandoval will be in attendance to underscore cooperation between Nevada and California. |

Final Opportunity for Public Comment on Regional Planning and Evaluation Documents
The period for submitting public comment on the draft 2011 Threshold Evaluation Report and the Draft Regional Plan documents will close June 28, 2012. Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) public hearings are the final opportunity to comment on the draft documents. Public hearings are at the Tahoe Events Center, Kings Beach, on June 27 at 9:30 a.m. and at the TRPA offices, Stateline, on June 28 at 9:00 a.m. Comment may also be submitted in writing.

Nevada State Parks invites the public to enjoy a day of free historical presentations at Mormon Station State Historic Park on Saturday, June 23. The outdoor presentations, under large shade trees, will begin at 10 a.m. and end at 4 p.m in Genoa, Nevada.
